We had a bit of excitement while we were in TX when Ike decided to mow down parts of the gulf coast and parts inland. They were predicting that even in Dallas we would get some big winds and lots of rain as Ike came towards us after making landfall. Luckily, it turned easterly almost immediately after hitting land and we were storm free. Hence no first hand pictures:)
Elise, my sister, however, down in Katy, was husband-less (Dan was out of town on business right till the last minute) and kid-full (two kids that she had been single parenting for two weeks) as Ike bore down on the Houston area. Thank goodness for good friends and neighbors who all came out to help her prepare and offer their services should it be needed.
As it happened, they were mostly good and friends in Ohio got it much worse!
And the whole time all I could keep thinking was how grateful I was that we have a prophet who has warned and counseled us on being prepared for just such a situation!
