Grandma Leslie made the drive up to see us for a short visit-less than 24 hours. But is was way worth it to us and we had some good fun. She arrived right before we put the kids to bed so after some hugs and kisses to a willing Noah and a hesitant Ian we headed out to the back yard to play some bocce ball with a brand new-but bought at Goodwill for a steal-bocce ball set. It was great visiting time and we got to enjoy the pleasant weather.
I came back from the gym the next morning and found Grandma Leslie and the boys under a tent reading books. Ian had warmed up and was doling out loves right and left!
We had to go the doctor for a well-child check up and, unfortunately, found out that Ian has some ear infections. Everything can be better with some good treats, right? As we passed a local bakery we decided to stop in. In all the years (sounds like I am right up there with Methuselah!) we have lived here I have always wanted to stop but never did. Mom said the same thing about her stops in the area. And it was kind of funny-we couldn't decide if we wanted it to be amazing or not! But we got one of everything that caught our eye and took it home to try it out. Sadly, (or for the best?) there were no show stoppers. The best cannoli's are still in Boston and Magee's Bakery in Lexington remains the uncontested sweet spot for just about everything else!
I said that Ian had warmed up, right? Well, he came to get and give loves from Grandma often!
Thanks for making the drive, Grandma Leslie! We love you and were so glad for our day together!
